Broken Sword: A Celebration

On the 4th of February, at 7:00PM, in the Apple store, Regent Street London, a Celebration for the launch of Broken Sword : Directors cut on the IPHONE and IPOD Touch, with everyone from the creators to the voice actors and band, was truly a good time. Bringing the key characters of the game together in public for the first time!

The Event was to celebrate the launch of Broken Sword: Directors Cut on the Iphone and Ipod touch, Simon Byron from Premier PR hosted the event, and was talking to anyone who’s anyone of Broken Sword. From Creator Charles Cecil to Barrington Pheloung composer of the songs for Broken Sword.

Broken Sword is an Adventure game with main characters Nico Colliard, and George Stobart, who are investigating into an explosion while on holiday in Paris, and end up on a globetrotting adventure leading into superstition, history and folklore with the Knights Templar in toe. The Directors Cut is offering more puzzles, more humor, and a whole near narrative added.

With a good few jokes, and interesting conversation, a few questions were answered, the reason behind going with apple and IPOD and IPHONE was, being an easier interface to use, instead of clicking with a mouse and pointing to go, you use your finger to do the clicking, dragging and moving, as well as feeling closer to the game, regardless of the screen being much smaller you are closer to the screen your playing on.

Charles Cecil (Director of Revolution and the Broken Sword games), Dave Gibbons (artist and co-creator of Watchmen), Miles Gilderdale (guitarist of Acoustic Alchemy), Barrington Pheloung (composer, Inspector Morse) and the cast and crew from Broken Sword all attended this special event, in public for the first time ever! With humor reminiscing and stories of how they all met and started working together, was a spectacle for any fan of games, comics and music.

Miles Gilderdale did a performance for us as well playing the End song from the Directors Cut, was a really nice performance, and nice instrumental, very well played, don’t know about anyone else that was there, but I’m surely going to be looking for a few albums! As to the rumors about a film being made of the Broken Sword game, I did hear something mentioned about a film, but not a lot was said towards this.

Broken Sword: Directors Cut is available NOW! From the app store. Well done to Charles Cecil and everyone else who has worked on this game since its first release in 1996, and well done to Apple for providing the only platform available to host the new features in the Directors Cut. Broken Sword the game that influenced a generation, brought fantastic artwork, fantastic puzzles, and fantastic narratives into a game, re-released on the IPHONE and IPOD touch, is sure to have the same effect on the new generation of today, congratulations to everyone involved and hope to see more releases on Apple platforms soon!
