Are You A Genius ? Footbal Genius- The Ultimate Quiz Review

Football Genius is a football related quiz found on the Xbox live Arcade from I-Imagine Interactive. It challenges you to compete against friends, family or random people online in a test to find out if you are a true footballing genius.

I'm not usually one for quizzes and quiz games but this one captured me right away. Perhaps that's because it's about a great passion of mine. Perhaps it's because I think I'll be good at it. Perhaps I won't like it so much when my brother trounces me at it. I just don't know! The game is for up to 4 players, both locally and online. It is split into different rounds which ask you to do different things.

The amount of rounds is determined on whether you want to play “Full time” or “Half time”. Basically if you want to play a full game or half a game. Each of these rounds will test you in different ways, such as knowledge, speed, and picture recognition. For example, the “Kick Off” round is the standard quiz format. A question is asked, 4 potential answers are available and everyone answers. Based on if you're correct and how fast you answered you get points. If you get the question wrong, you lose points. Another round is the “Tackle” round. In this, whoever answers correctly and quickest gets to tackle another player. This steals the points from that player. In the “Throw In” round, clues will appear on screen and you have to match the right answer to the clues. As time ticks down more clues will appear, supposedly making the answer more clear. It's difficult to guess the player's name when your clue is “Born in the 1980s” after all. There 9 rounds in a full time game but it doesn't take a long time to get through them all. I happily played a few games one after the other to try and beat my original high score. I did by the way....if you were wondering...no? Ok, let's move on.

Another little thing I like is that you can use your Xbox Avatar in game, so you can see your virtual face in game! Ok, it's not revolutionary, but I still like it.

While you can play by yourself to test your knowledge there are no AI bots available. Some may find this a disappointment but when you think about it, the AI sets the questions so any AI players would know the answers instantly leaving us poor humans with no chance.

This game will ONLY appeal to football fans and even then, only a particular type of fan. If you don't remember what happened in the opening game if this year's World Cup, do not get this game. Luckily for me, I am the right type of fan, as is my family, making this game perfect for us. So, I am talking to like minded people right now, this game is brilliant. It's fun, easy to get into and not over complicated in it's questioning. I would highly recommend it to those people than think they are a true Football Genius.
