That's got to hurt! Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe Review

Mortal Kombat creators have joined heads with comic writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray to bring you the explosive action that you get blown away with in Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe.

Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe doesn’t follow in the style foot steps of the other Mortal Kombat games with the same old story of the battle against good and bad in the mortal kombat realm, instead it takes you on a complete different journey and brings in some characters from the Dc comics.

With the story line of this one being that Shao Kahn was defeated by Raiden when he was attempting a invasion on the earth realm, Raiden blasted him through a portal, which then sees Superman stopping an Apokoliptian invasion led by Darkseid. All is thought to have been stopped until the story unravels and all hell breaks loose.

You really can feel the impact of the blows in this latest instalment of mortal kombat with its full Hi-Def display beauty and the brutally quick gameplay. The layout of the entire game is really well done from the main menu which sees the usual choices such as one or two players and options and the way the levels are laid out are really well done as well for example when your fighting your not fighting on that visible disc that you can notice when playing the tekken tag game on the Playstation 2 its more of a real moveable world where you can smash your opponents through pillars and charge them through walls to inflict as much damage as possible or if you want to have some fun you might as well nock them off the edge of the level and pummel them on till you implant them in to the concrete .

Some of the well known fighters from the previous mortal kombat games are present in this one but there are some fighters from the previous games that don’t make an appearance which is covered by adding the DC comic characters such as Batman, Superman, The Flash and many others. Sound effect’s wise its spot on, with a nice sound setup you can almost feel each blow as you drill your fists in to your opponent’s body or as your smashing there heads through pillars.

The controls of this game are at first a bit tricky but when you play for about half hour you will pick them up dead quickly and easily. The new counter hit system that has been really well added in to the controls also gives you some chance of defeating the fast fighters such as the flash and with test your might being stuck in to the battle instead of having it as a separate part of the game is much better and adds the encouragement to do a whole lot more damage to your opponent.

The merging of two worlds is one of the best ideas that have been done for a game so far due to the fact it opens up a whole world of possibility’s such as the argument you might have had reading comics the battle between Batman and Superman who would win, now you can settle that score for once and all and battle it out and finally answer the question.

All in all this game has showed that it is possible to make a fighting game that isn’t the same as others year after year , with its mix of stunning graphics and kick arse fighters its defiantly one for you to pick up this Christmas and have bone crunching and blood spraying fun with.
