Ocean's In Space ?! Star Ocean First Departure Review

Space Date 346: The crew of a Terran Federation ship arrives on the planet Roak. With the help of a stalwart band of local heroes, the crew must work together to unravel a mystery and halt a galactic war.

First Departure is a remade version of the very first Star Ocean with 3D graphics and anime cut scenes, for RPG players this is a must with a good in depth story to follow. Star ocean’s game play has a striking resemblance to Final Fantasy 9, every thing but the battles, instead of the classic you attack then your opponent attacks stile of fighting you are free to run around the battle fighting your enemies at will.

The graphics are nothing to shout about they are your classic 3D anime maps and character.

When you start off in the game there are a lot of videos and people talking to you witch will slow the game play down, but if you can put up with that for the first 15 20 minutes of the game your on a roll then. Another thing that lets is down for me is your ability to save game you cant just hit start and save game you have to find specific places to save same so you may find your self playing the same bits more than once if you need to switch the game off before you have found the next save point.

Not only do you have the mane story to do but if you talk to people in the places you visit on your travels 9 time out of 10 you will have a few side quests to do, a little tip when your playing the game though have a good look about the map when your in towns and you will find lots of items that will help you along with the game.
Over all though a very good fantasy game for all ages though be warned there is some moderate swearing, but never the less I liked it.
