Dicing With Vodoo! Vodoo dice Review

Voodoo Dice is a puzzle game on the Xbox Live Arcade game from Ubisoft. In it, you take control of a die in one of 4 worlds in order to collect emeralds. These emeralds then unlock different levels in each specific world.
The single player gameplay of Voodoo dice is fairly simplistic. For the most part you will be solving puzzles such as matching the number on the upward face of your die with one blocking your path, clicking switches in a certain order to open doors and moving statues to hold other doors open. It all sounds much easier than it is. For example, if a die blocking your path has a 5 showing you will need to sit next to it with a 5 showing on yours. In some places this can be rather difficult, resulting in you rolling your die around all over the place trying to get a 5 to show when necessary. The actual gameplay isn't revolutionary but could, to a puzzle game fan, become quite addictive. Each level has a “Voodoo Time” for you to beat thus adding another level of difficulty. There is an achievement to beat all the levels, in all the worlds, under their “Voodoo Time”. This will leave me struggling for hours I can tell you. I can't leave an obtainable achievement untouched!

There is a multiplayer mode to Voodoo Dice but it is only local. It is for up to 4 players on a single console and can take the form of many different modes. There is the race, which is simply getting your die around the track faster than your opponents, possibly picking up some of the power-ups dotted around the map on the way. There is an Arcade mode which involves all players competing to match up their dice with others on the map. Another mode is the Tactics mode. This is possibly the hardest. In this mode you are given control of 4 dice. You can move your dice 3 squares each. The name of the game is to match your dice up with your opponents' dice, thereby destroying them. The last man standing will win. This mode could become highly competitive as each participant seeks to out-think the others. The final mode is a capture the flag style game. You must grab a flag and control it for as long as possible. You will lose control if you are touched by another die.

Overall I would say this is a decent game. It's fun but I think it would really only appeal to puzzle gamers, who could find it addictive. There are other games on the Xbox Live Arcade which are better for the money, such as Puzzle Quest, in my ever so humble opinion.
