Let Them Burn!! Burn Zombie Burn Review

Doublesix video games ltd is the brains behind the rather brain splittingly fast Burn Zombie Burn which is an arcade blast-em-up game and in my opinion is one of the best and most enjoyable I have played in a very long time.
You play as a guy named Bruce who has kind of a striking resemblance to Ash out of the Evil Dead films which is rather amusing and has a girlfriend named Daisy, he also has his catchphrases to start off the levels which do tickle your humor side.
The main menu is really easy to navigate around, gives you the normal options like single player, multi player and options and gives you the alternative options of high scores and controls layout which is helpful if you choose to skip the tutorial which isn’t highly recommended, the menu is also done in a very funky slime green color which is easy on the eyes.

Going in to single player you have the choice of doing the tutorial which is a must if you want to survive longer than 5 minutes in the first level. You also get the option of four game modes in single player in each level which consist of freeplay, timed, defense and challenge. Freeplay lets you just blast away as many zombies as you can before you lose all your three lives. Timed, you do basically the same as in freeplay but you also have to collect clocks which add twenty seconds to your clock which boosts your time up and prevents it running out and ending the level. Defense is a little more of a challenge and gets harder as you make you way up the different waves of zombies, you have to protect Daisy who is Bruce’s girlfriend, she is always set in the middle of the maps and you need to protect here as best as you can which gets tuff and also burning and killing zombies will reveal health pick-ups for her which help you out a little, and finally you have the challenge mode there is ten challenges to complete all together which is easier said than done due to each challenge getting harder and harder as you progress.
The real part that makes each level more and more of a challenge is the different types of zombies as they come in each wave one after another getting faster and faster, all together there is eight different types of zombie, which consist of:
Normal zombie: who are just your bog standard undead guys.
Crazy zombie: they are a little bit quicker than the normal zombies.
Dancer zombies: who come out in pink frilly tutus.
Exploder zombies: who are strapped up with dynamite ready to blow.
Rusher zombies: who charge at you and do a fair bit of damage if they manage to ram in to you.
Masked zombies: who are armored up on their fronts and will deflect all shots that you give them.
Infected zombies: are glowing green and are not affected by burning and the dance gun partially due to them being infected.
Super zombie: who is a huge and rare zombie that pops up from time to time and is hard to kill with normal weapons explosives work best when trying to kill it. Unlike the other zombies the super zombie has two attacks, ground smash that sends a shock wave through the ground and the other attack is giant stream of fire which he farts out and is not good if you get caught in the stream of fire.

Well there’s a wide variety of zombies and a good choice of game modes to choose from over six levels which are all gore spraying and pulse pounding fun, but what about the weapons I hear you say, well there most certainly is a big variety of weapons which each leave there very own impression on the zombies whether it be spreading them across the floor in a red smudge or sending their body parts various ways or just turning them in to a red mist or just in to a crispy zombie.
Your arsenal that you can pick up throughout the levels consists of:
Pistol: which you start with which is your standard weapon,
Torch: the burning kind not the plastic kind powered by Duracell, the torch you also have to start with, it sets zombies on fire and helps you crank up the scores,
TNT: useful for taking out big groups of zombies at any one time and can also be upgraded when you burn zombies and pick up the upgrades that they drop when you kill them for your TNT,
Uzi: which saves your finger from repeatedly tapping the fire button due to it being a automatic weapon and holding down the fire button to watch the heads pop in some rather disturbing satisfaction,
Shotgun: it packs a punch and takes out a few of the zombies at a time if they are close together,
Chainsaw: sounds good but it’s not one of the best weapons to approach oncoming horde of zombies with in this game,
Baseball bat and cricket bat: Are more mêlée variety of weapons which are enjoyable due to the super charge on them which sends the zombies flying,
Lawnmower: a personal favorite of mine and a awesome weapon to use against the oncoming zombies as it sucks them in to the blades and sprays them all over the place in a red mist.
Gatlin Gun: very powerful and very effective at close and long range but gets through the ammo rather quick so make sure you keep picking up the ammo packs that pop out of zombies.
Brain Sucker Gun: pretty self explanatory really isn’t it, it’s really useful when in multi player and in defense modes.
Dance Gun: emits a ray of dance across the zombies that are in range and stops them in their path to start to break out in dance and backed by disco style music, rather amusing and useful for planting TNT right in the middle of them all to earn you a nice combo.
Flamethrower: brilliant for setting large amounts of zombies on fire at once and for blowing up the exploding zombies at a safe distance.

But to round this game up and some it up with a few words they would be awesome and fun, this is a game that really has breathed new life in to the Playstation store and can be enjoyed for days on end with its really well done graphics and gameplay that takes you back to your arcade years that everyone can remember and loves, I personally highly recommend this game to anyone due to it being just one of the best arcade style games of this year and will be really hard to compete with this title. So get on your Playstation 3’s and buy this awesome game and enjoy it and get stuck in and addicted as I have done and crank up the kill counts.
