Welcome To Africa! Far Cry 2 Review

Here we have one of the biggest games to hit the market Far Cry 2 for its awe inspiring effects and beautifully designed characters and locations it is far superior to the best selling game Far Cry, by having a 19.3 sq mile world map with a range of various locations of deserts, jungles and the savannah which is set in Africa and to add to that there is various types of animals roaming around so keep a eye out when travelling around and also the day changes through daylight to night time all in real time.

There are plenty of places to visit inside the game varying from faction towns, outposts and other locations and it is not like Fallout 3 where you find yourself running around everywhere well you can if you want but there are easier ways to travel by using a range of vehicles like cars, boats and buses.

Before starting the story their is a choice out of 9 playable characters to choose from but Jack Carver from the original game does not make appearance, once you have chosen your character the other characters then become part of game as your buddies these buddies will be aids if you are wounded or need assistance in various missions.

Starting the game off you are already deep in the heart of Africa getting dropped off at a location to start your primary mission which is to terminate “The Jackal” who is a dangerous arms dealer that supplies both sides of Africa with weapons. Whichever character that you have chosen you will find that you will get struck down by malaria which is a pain if you are in a serious gun fight and got the effects coming which puts of your vision and actions, by taking some pills it will suppress the effects for about 30 minutes in real time and if you are running low on pills just get a mission to earn some more. There is no money in the game instead you will have to go around the map looking for diamonds to use as your currency to purchases upgrades or new weapons.

As for weapons there is a huge range to choose from like pistols to shotguns to automatic rifles to RPGs which you are only allowed to carry 4 items at a time so choose wisely there is also a new feature brought to Far Cry 2 which the weapons start degrading by getting dirty over time and will if used over and over again start to jam when being used or just fall apart in your hands and making the gun unusable, you can pick up enemy weapons and purchase weapons from a local gun shop you can unlock new weapons to by doing various missions for the owner.

One of the best effects in the game has to be the fire it has to be one of the best fire effects in any game to date it acts as it would in real life by spreading and setting fire to anything else in its path so keep your distance if you are watching it or you’ll end up trapped and no were to go like I did!

Another feature on the game is if the character is badly wounded  you’ll have to do first aid on yourself by either bandaging or pulling bullets and shrapnel from your limbs and then injecting a health syringe into your arm to get full hp.

Far Cry 2 has to be one of the most realistically looking games out there especially if you have it in full 1080p HD with Dolby 5.1 surround sound to get that greater feeling that you are there in Africa! So pick up a weapon choose a faction and start fighting and experience this amazing game for yourself and let us know what you think on our forum.

You can now purchase online the new Fortune pack for around £7.99 which includes 3 new weapons, 2 new vehicles and 4 new multiplayer maps.

There is a Far Cry movie being released made by Uwe Boll to check out the trailer click here
