Stay Puft Is Back! Ghostbusters The Video Game Review

Ghostbusters the video game developed by Red Fly Studios and published by Atari, these two have given the game and one of the biggest franchises in the world a much needed face lift and loving update with the graphics.
The story is basically you are a new recruit that has just joined the Ghostbusters team and are being given a bit of grief from Dr Venkman, but the rest of the team welcome you with open arms who are then are knocked off there feet by a huge spectral energy blast from an unknown source which frees slimmer who has been locked in a containment unit, but now he’s free you are given the chance to try out your proton pack and cause a bit more damage than good.

Awe inspiring battle against ghouls and ghosts due to the full HD graphics which is some what a joy too watch, the graphics are superb and immerge you just that little bit more in the world that the game is creating which involves you a lot more. They have bought a old classic back with real love and care and it shows from playing the game when you are sat there grinning like a cat as you are fighting the stay puft man and be driven about in the ecto 1 . There is no clutter and mess on the h.u.d like some games of this type would have due to it being one of the key things to avoid if you want to enjoy the thrill of blasting ghosts fully.
But to submerge you that much more in to the eerie and dark and creepy surroundings’ of each map is the audio quality of the game, all the original casts voices are there and all the original effects and even down to the background music that plays when something creepy is brewing or in a cut scene. The best thing about the audio is the opening title music and the proton packs when you open them up and unleash there power, you really get a sense that you are a Ghostbuster, which was mostly every kids dream when they were little watching the original cartoon and films on the television.

As far as weaponry is concerned you start off with your standard proton pack which is upgradeable when you zap and trap ghosts and earn money, but it’s also upgraded by your team for the different types of ghost’s that you will encounter throughout the game in each level, and also you get to upgrade your ghost traps as well so you can capture them a lot easier but be warned the bigger ones still put up a bloody good fight.
The gameplay controls are really easy to use even though the amount of stuff that you have and that you can do they have not made the controls really complex and complicated. You get on screen help if you get stuck with the controls instead of being left to struggle and also when you buy power ups and upgrades you also get told how to use them.
As well as the single player being pretty cool and running some pretty kick arse graphics and the fact it lets you act out your childhood dream of being a Ghostbuster, there is also multiplayer option as well. You get to chose from various modes like quick match, ranked match and create a match. The idea of the multi player basically follows the same idea and basis as the single player, where you have to do various ghost busting jobs and earn your self money whilst doing it, you have your group like you have in the main single player game instead of you all being the same or there being twenty or thirty of you , there is just you and four others, the best bit is inviting your mates to play as a group so you can have more fun and more of a laugh.

To sum it all up Ghostbusters is a good game and you will enjoy playing it and it is just like sitting there and watching the movie with there witty humour and team spirit. There is up sides and down with this game, the upsides are that its enjoyable and fun and is a game worth getting but the down sides are that there is a couple of little bugs still in the game and it isn’t really the longest game in game play terms but then again it doesn’t really matter with a old school game and movie that has been bought back to life because its just nice to see it back.
